OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)—The Big Hurt is coming back to the Bay Area.

The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms with designated hitter Frank Thomas, who was released Sunday by the Toronto Blue Jays to become a free agent after becoming disgruntled about his playing time.

Haha sweet. Interesting though. I wonder how this will all work out. Cust is mainly a DH and can play a little outfield. Mike Sweeny is also a DH/1B guy. The big hurt is pretty much only a DH guy.

Should be interesting how they work all this bats into the lineup.

Also, sucks Chavez is now on the 60 day DL. It hurts not having him.

I think the change of scenery will be good to him. I don't think he was enjoying himself in Toronto. Plus, he's got a better chance of making the playoffs (let's face it, no one besides Boston and NY make the playoffs out of the East, maybe once or twice every 10 years or so). Those little things can mean a lot to him, especially since he's 39 years old.
