Is this the wrong thing to do as a fan?

I've never had an NBA team to call my own, but now I'm strongly considering jumping on the New York Knicks' bandwagon and making them my fourth franchise to root for -- joining the Sabres, Bills and Yankees. They're currently one of the worst franchises in pro basketball, but they're clearly on the way up with the new additions of Donnie Walsh (president) and Mike D'Antoni (coach). The Knicks have a lot of trash on their roster, so it's probably going to be a two- or three-year rebuilding period.

My question: Is it a copout to jump on their wagon, or should I just go for it and make the Knicks team No. 4?

It's the Knicks. There is no bandwagon. Go for it. It's not like your jumping on as they're entering the NBA finals. I, myself have been a Magic fan since the days of Penny and Shaq. The Knicks are #2 though.

Root for the Pacers. The team has the most players WITHOUT tattoos...and they play @ an arena called Canseco FIELDHOUSE...c'mon...Fieldhouse is awesome.

Find a team that is not big nationally and root for them. Dare to be different.

I'm a total bandwagon Cavs fan... i never watched a Cavs game in my life before they got Lebron... and they sucked....

But I jumped on when it looked like things were going up, and they have, and its fun.

I chose them because of LeBron obviously, and they are the closest team and thier games are all on.

i'm still not a huge NBA fan, but they are definately my team now.... i'll watch them forever.

They are far below the Bills, Sabres, and OSU.... but above the Yankees as I don't watch baseball until the playoffs.

Knicks it is. They seem to have righted the ship organizationally by bringing in a great talent evaluator and coach, I can watch them at will on MSG, and -- bonus -- one of their main play-by-play men is Gus Johnson!

I've always kinda rooted for the lakers, but now i've gone more to the celtics with their recent success. Plus me being irish doesnt hurt.

I enjoyed the knicks when I was younger because their best player was named Patrick. Same reason my brother used to be a Jazz and Broncos fan. Except I just never stopped rooting for them.

Why not? When I watch basketball I cheer for them. Since we don't have a pro team you gotta cheer for a fellow NY team at least. If you where a bandwagoner you would have been a Spurs fan.

No, don't do it just for the basic fact that basketball sucks.
