#1 Detroit - Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia
It is a tough year to pick #1 because there may not be a clearcut best player. The Lions have done well recently with the selections of Calvin Johnson and Kevin Smith at WR and RB, now they need a QB to make the offense go. Stafford may need some time but he’s the best player for Detroit at this spot.

#2 St. Louis - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
Smith does not have the look of a franchise tackle as he’s a bit short and stocky, but he may be the safest bet among the top tier lineman. If he doesn’t lock down LT, he has the power to handle guard or right tackle.

#3 Kansas City - Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
Tyler Thigpen has given the Chiefs enough hope for the future that they do not need to reach for a QB at this spot. Orakpo is an explosive edge rusher and his presence would help form one of the more exciting young lines in the league.

#4 Seattle - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
The team lacks a go to receiver and was crippled all year with injuries at the position. Crabtree is the top playmaker on the offensive side of the ball and will be an early favorite of Matt Hasselbeck.

#5 Cleveland - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
Things couldn’t play out any better for the Browns with this pick. They need help in the secondary and they land a potential shut down corner in Jenkins.

#6 Cincinnati - Chris Wells, RB, Ohio St.
A born and bred Ohio, Beanie gets to stay home. The once explosive offense needs some retooling and Wells is a great place to start.

#7 Oakland - Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
Oher may have the most talent of any tackle in the draft, and for a team needing help protecting a former #1 overall pick at QB, it’s a perfect match.

#8 Jacksonville - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
Injuries depleted the offensive line, but a talent upgrade is also a need. Smith has the natural athleticism to give Garrard plenty of time to throw the ball, and help clear out room in the running game.

#9 Green Bay - Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
Johnson has tremendous upside as a pass rusher, and his presence could upgrade the entire level of the D. Teams have to keep an eye on him every snap because of his explosive pass rush ability.

#10 San Francisco - Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
It has to be tough being a 49er fan at this spot. With the Alex Smith selection still burning the team, they have the option of selecting another QB in the Top 10. It is a risk, and Bradford may take some time to develop his skills at the pro level but his upside is too much to pass on here.

#11 Buffalo - Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
Curry would be an immediate upgrade on the strong side and add a playmaker to the front seven. A tight end like Jermaine Gresham should draw a lot of attention but Curry is too good to pass on.

#12 Denver - Taylor Mays, S, USC
The defense needs help, especially in the secondary. Mays is an all around standout that will make an impact in deep coverage but also near the line in run support.

#13 Washington - Eugene Monroe, OL, Virginia
There is an abundance of talent on the offensive side of the ball, but the line needs some help to allow time for the playmakers to make plays. Monroe should be able to step in right away and help out on the right side, and eventually move to the left side down the line.

#14 New Orleans - Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
The Saints have tried to fill their corner hole with later round picks and free agents and neither have worked. There is finally a talent on the board in the first worth the pick, and they couldn’t be happier to add a talent like Davis to their secondary.

#15 Houston - Everrette Brown, DE , Florida St.
Brown is an explosive pass rusher off the edge. He is a bit undersized but the pressure he would apply off one edge along with Mario Williams off the other would not give offenses much time to make plays.

I like it. It would obviously come down to Curry and Maualuga and I think Curry is a better fit for us. I also think they mean he would be an upgrade for the weak side, unless they see Mitchell going to the weak side.

Heres a link to the whole thing, with the other half of the 1st round.
