Scouting: He has average size for a quarterback at 6 foot 3 inches, and he has average speed for running a 4.7 forty. His specialty is the long ball. He has a very accurate arm when trying to hit a deep receive and can throw it very far. He is described as a "pro style" quarterback, and he has very good mechanics. He gets his feet set right, and he has a good throwing motion. He is more accurate than Brady Quinn and has a better arm. The major challenge for him is to see if he can take the pressure of being the "savior" of Notre Dame football. He is a great decision maker in the pocket, and he has enough mobility to make a play with his feet. He has a very quick drop back and can put the ball where only his receiver can catch it.

Sounds like a gayer Rob Johnson.

Sounds like he's a better QB than any PSU QB that ever played.

Because of Clausen's 5 All American Awards and Heisman awards and O'Brien awards?

The gay community is doing a wonderful job of pimping pickleboy, even more so than Ron Powlus.

Shit, he lost to a Morelli-led team.

What PSU QB has ever been drafted other than Collins? Talk about a laundry list of bums.

Typical responses from laidiot.

Seriously I hate ND a lot, but Clausen is really good and if he keeps it up when he comes out he's going #1.

You're going to miss a lot of good football if you judge everything by the NFL draft.

Richardson was drafted, as were Sacca, Blackledge, Fusina, Hufnagel, Liske, Lucas and Plum.

Then again, those guys actually WON FOOTBALL GAMES AND TITLES.

Clausen has done what? Won 18 games in 3 years. Very impressive. His best win was what? Beating Purdue? That might be impressive for Terrelle Pryor, but few others.

Where was Warren Moon drafted? Kurt Warner? Tony Romo? Antonio Gates? Antonio Pierce?

But if you think a great arm and being able to be drafted high and having Notre Dame lose....you could take Clausen...or Jamarcus Russell.

You are a big fan of Jamarcus Russell too, right?

I've never heard of any of those people.

They all came after Michigan's last consensus national title.

So was Collins, who has more yards than any Bills QB.

1 QB is all you can hang your hat on.

Sorry, but Penn State has produced nothing out of the QB position.

In college we have. And that you are unfamiliar with the history of football is of no concern to me.

3 Walter Camp All-Americans in that list. Notre Dame has one. Ohio State has one. Michigan has zero.

I am familiar with the history of NCAA football. I am however not familiar with the history of the rotten slobs PSU has produced at QB.

Are you familiar with the Walter Camp All American Award? PSU has more All Americans at QB than Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan combined.

Are any of them named Montana or Brady?

LALALALALALAFONTAINE

Brady split time at Michigan with Drew Henson.

Montana was beat out Chuck Fusina as the 1978 AA QB, one of those rotten slobs you could never remember.

Clausen is clearly the number QB prospect this year, he's had an amazing year.

5 loss season. Impressive.

Again, like you preach with goalies, Wins and losses are a team stat. Can't fault Clausen for 5 losses.

The Notre Dame offense has been fantastic. It's their defense that lets them down time after time. Like the Stand ford game, he was 23-30 for 340 and 5 TDs. How is that his fault they lost?

He has a QB rating of 161.43 has passed for 3,722 yards and thrown for 28 TDs with only 4 INTs this season. All in a pro style offense, unlike guys like Harrell.

That's pretty damn good, I'd say.

You forgot one minor detail. He went to Notre Dame...therefore he automatically sucks. Didn't you get the memo?

All sarcasm aside, there's something about the guy that turns me off, and I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's his demeanor/attitude. I really didn't like the way he was talking shit to the Stanford sideline after they got that go-ahead score and then ended up losing. The guy can't seem to keep his mouth shut. I'm pretty sure that incident in South Bend wasn't merely a fan saying "Hey Jimmy! You suck! (*whack*)". He had to have said something.

Perhaps it stems from the entitlement he feels about everything. He came to South Bend in a stretch limo proclaiming how he was going to win multiple national championships at Notre Dame.

I forgot Clausen only threw 4 INTs this season. This excites me.

My biggest worry is that he may have peaked already being in a pro system for so long and could have reached his full potential. A point made by a few draft experts.

"I'm looking forward to a 15 year career, a couple of trips to the Super Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl), and a parade through downtown San Diego (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego)."

Clausen announced his oral commitment at the College Football Hall of Fame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_Football_Hall_of_Fame) in South Bend, Indiana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Bend,_Indiana), after arriving in a stretch Hummer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummer) limousine. He also said his goal was to win multiple national titles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I-A_national_football_championship) with the Irish.

He's #2, and will be a top 10 pick. I was way off!

This was also said when Bradford was hurt and nobody knew the status of his shoulder.

Not to jump in the middle of a heated debate, but I just want to say that Clausen is not the best QB of this draft class (and I'm a ND fan). Weiss may have been able to show him some NFL qualities, but he will have a long period until he is good (Brand Quinn anybody). However, if Clausen can pull a Mark Sanchez +1, meaning making it to the Super Bowl in his rookie season, I'll be the first to eat my words and get my girl and me two Super Bowl travel packages (http://www.sportevents.com/super-bowl-tickets-and-packages) and tell him personally that he proved me wrong!

Since Clausen blamed his receivers for his interceptions, is he going to blame Gruden for the fact he got drafted 48th instead of top 10 (or 1st!!!!!), like some in here thought would happen?

I was wrong, it happens. I still think he's going to be the best QB in the class this year. He's in a great situation and is very pro ready.

Congrats on manning up. I think he's too immature to ever do it. That said, he's in a GREAT position at Carolina. That's an ideal situation to be in for a rookie QB.

I know, with that running game to fall back on, it should help. Plus having a great WR like Smith is nice. That's really why I think he'll turn out good. He is immature, and weird sometimes, that's for sure.
