    Dick Jauron

    Simple Question.

Should he be the Bills head coach?

I think he's done a remarkable job at OBD, but I know others have a different opinion. He took a team that had 2/5ths of it's players injured and finished at 7-9 with a team that many thought would be picking in the top 5 of this years draft. I'm excited to see what happens with a hopefully qualified OC (unlike Fairchild) and a hopefully healthy team.

What are your thoughts on DJ?

On the best day of his life, he's an average head coach. Another 7-9 season and the ax for Jauron wouldn't be surprising; on would go the coaching carousel in Buffalo, which has been spinning for eight years. Coincidence they haven't made the playoffs during that span? I think not.

I'd love to see a good head coach go above .500 with the circumstances last season.

So are you saying that any coach in the NFL could have gotten the Bills to 7-9 last year?

I'm giving him this year - I thought he was good but a couple of those games - Dallas in particular was a sore spot for me.

We should have won that game.

...and the Patriots should have beaten us...but not by that much of a margin. We were just not prepared for that game either.

Jauron and his subordinates threw away at least two games (Denver and Dallas come to mind) with their poor decisions. Inadequacy at the top doesn't lead to victories.

Hell of a guy? Yes. Hell of a coach? Not by the longest of long shots.

I will give him a shot. I like the direction of this team. It's been built well, I hope he learns from his past and gets the Bills going.

jauron is a loser he has a loser mentality and he imparted it to his team. dick "lose close" jauron was afailure in chicago, and has been a failure here.

The front office needs to not be afraid to spend what it costs to bring in winners. I dread who the next reclamation project at head coach will be.

I have no problem with DJ yet. I knew it would take a few years for us to see what he is bringing. We should know by the end of this year if he is the one.

I think he's an excellent motivator and a player's coach. He proved everything he needed to last season when the team was spiraling downhill, had injury after injury, and the players ended up playing their asses off for the man -- bringing the team back into the playoff hunt.

I was totally against the hiring the skeletor (I think it's a cool nickname for him) -- but now I am very happy we have him. I think he can win coach of the year if we make the playoffs and win a game in the post season --- this coming season.

I know ... I was expecting the Bills to go 12-4 the past 2 seasons.

    Especially last year.

Injuries are NOT an excuse, right Matt?

would you like me to roll out the injury list so we can see what impact players we actually lost?

I apologize jay, clearly a man who has a record of losing should be given as much leeway as possible. I think he has proven what he can and cna't do. He can't win as a head coach. Forgive me for not wanting more gregg williams, mike mularkey type coaches. You wanted experience, fine why did it have to be negative experience?

Who says he deserves as much leeway as possible?

Sure, if you want to roll out the injury list feel free. To say that they did not have an affect on this team is goofy talk.

There were times last year when I thought we got outcoached ... no doubt.

But generally speaking, I think he's a decent coach for this team.

Can we do better? Possibly. But I don't think that there are very many coaches in this league that would have done better than 7-9 with this team last year.

it had some effect but not the effect that would make the bills 7-9 and lets be perfectly honest the major effect that cause buffalo to go 7-9 last year was miami and the jets being horrid that's 4 wins. 5 of the 7 wins came against the jets, dolphins and ravens. If you want to look at anything, I'd take a look at the incredibly weak schedule the bills played.

No, I am implying that throwing money away guarantees nothing. The coach has to bring in his own system, but the coach also had to make the players buy into this system of his in order for it to work. Jauron brought his system in, and his players have bought into it. With Schonert taking over the offense, the improvements made on defense this off-season, and the fact that the players have seemingly bought into Jauron --- this team can be scary next season.
