We’re still trying to confirm whether the “Marshawn Terrell Lynch” who was arrested on February 11 in Culver City, California is the same “Marshawn Terrell Lynch” who plays football for the Buffalo Bills.
Our own Aaron Wilson called the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and learned that the “Marshawn Terrell Lynch” who was arrested on February 11 faces felony charges of carrying a loaded firearm.
If it was the same “Marshawn Terrell Lynch” who plays for the Bills, two questions come to mind.
First, did Lynch immediately disclose the arrest to the team or the league?
Second, even though Lynch wasn’t suspended for his gulty plea to reckless driving after an alleged hit-and-run incident from which Lynch tried to run-and-hide, does this incident constitute the kind of repeat offense to which Commissioner Roger Goodell referred at his pre-Super Bowl press conference?
“Our rules and our policy are quite clear . . . that we’re looking to deal with repeat offenders,” Goodell said on January 30 in response to a question from Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger as to the status of Giants receiver Plaxico Burress. “We may not wait for the legal process to conclude when we have repeat offenders. . . . When you start getting into multiple accusations, you are putting yourself in the wrong position. You are making the wrong decision. You are in the wrong places. At that point in time, you are reflecting poorly on the NFL, yourself, your teammates.”
It remains to be seen whether the NFL’s Marshawn Lynch is the Marshawn Lynch who put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
