It's not his main objective to make money; and why should someone have to lose money while owning this team in order for the team to win hockey games? They've proven that, that sort of thinking isn't necessary for success. You don't have to spend to the cap ceiling to be a serious contender in the NHL. They were ahead of the curve with the new NHL. They've had the most success since the lockout, albeit no Stanley Cup. So many players became very good players, and all at the same time, that it was inevitable for the Sabres to begin losing "star" players. Could they have kept 1 or 2 lower tiered players instead of who we still have on this team? Yes. But no one can argue with their philosophy.
