Looks like Peters has some competition!7:35pm — Here’s a first….Nathan Gerbe and Vladimir Sobotka dropped the gloves… REALLY? 5ft-6in Gerbe dropped them with Sobotka. It didn’t go well, but it certainly sends a message.

Any video of that?

Eight is enough for the Pirates
Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins apparently thought eight was enough for the Portland Pirates as Peter Schaefer scored the lone goal in the shootout, giving the Bruins a 3-2 SO win over the Pirates before 6,279 at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Friday night.
The loss snapped the Pirates win-streak at eight games, but they can manage to take solace in the fact, they’ve earned 22 of 24 points in their last 12 games.

Pirates come crashing back to earth
Link>>>>>>Portland, ME – It was bound to happen that the Portland Pirates eventually had to lose another game in regulation. Who could believe the Pirates would maintain the pace they were on this season, even the New England Patriots loss in their attempt at a perfect season.
They believed in the locker room. Actually, they demanded that sort of perfection. Unfortunately, for the Pirates they fell with a loud thud, as all good things must come to an end.
The Pirates gave up six goals, falling to the Hartford Wolf Pack, 6-2, in front of 5,028 at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday night.

It was an interesting practice for sure. Dino was tinkering and the guys were very work like, but yet it was relaxed.
I never asked, but I got the sense the loss might have done them some good because it took some of the pressure off them....just an opinion.

Pirates effort doesn’t pay off
Link>>>>Portland, ME – It wasn’t the best start for the Portland Pirates, who will play four games over the next five nights as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Worcester Sharks before a Thanksgiving eve crowd of 3,343 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
It the was the Pirates third loss in a row, second in regulation, after winning eight straight games and they’d like to stop the bleeding now before this becomes an epidemic of losing.

Panic hasn’t set in for the Pirates…..yet
Read More>>>>Manchester, NH – It’s no longer a slump, but an epidemic for the Portland Pirates.
Yet, the Pirates don’t seemed to be too concerned losing their fourth straight game (0-3-1), falling the Manchester Monarchs, 3-1, in front of a post-thanksgiving day crowd of 6,328 at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night.

It’s a streak of a different sort
Link>>>>Portland, ME – In the last two games, the Portland Pirates had 83 shots on goal, but they only have two goals to show for their effort.
The Lowell Devils scored three first period goals, including one with a second left in the period as they rolled over the Pirates 3-1 before a 4,216 at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday night.
It was the Pirates fifth straight loss (0-4-1) and while the frustration has begun to creep into the locker room, it’s not for the lack of effort on the Pirates part. Portland has piled the shots on net during the losing streak, but have very little to show for it in the form of goals.

The Pirates get back into the win column
Link>>>>Portland, ME – On most Sunday afternoon’s, it usually time to pop the popcorn, open the chips and dip and settle in for a little football action, but not in the case of the Portland Pirates.
For the 2,997 in attendance who braved to come out to the Cumberland County Civic Center, instead of staying home to watch the Patriots lose to the Steelers, they were rewarded with a, 4-0, blue-collar victory from the Pirates over the Monarchs.

Nice to see they got one, man, they're following the Sabres awful streak.
