    QB: John Skelton, Fordham

Only Fordham offered Skelton a scholarship coming out of high school, despite the fact that he received interest from several universities such as Texas Tech, SMU and UTEP. He began his career in 2006 when he started nine games for the Rams. In 2007 he started all twelve contests acquiring 2,256 yards (216-383) and 22 TDs -- his play earned him Second Team All Patriot League honors. In 2008 the native of El Paso, Texas, connected on 228 out of 372 passes for 2,605 yards and 15 scorers.

Skelton has a good, live arm and gets adequate zip on routes. He can make most NFL throws, but lacks the strength to fit the ball into tight spots -- though he does show good touch on deep balls. He also throws a catchable ball on wheel routes. Skelton's consistency improves dramatically on underneath patterns. Overall, he is athletic with quick feet and adequate speed -- gets set quickly.

However, his mechanics need more work; he MUST improve his delivery. Skelton also needs to improve his accuracy when throwing short, outside the numbers. He has a slow delivery and does struggle with complicated defensive schemes. His lack of big time production at a lower level is a concern.

Skelton is a good quarterback prospect with some intriguing physical ability. He will never be an elite passer, but with time and better coaching he could develop into a solid backup. He is strictly a late round pick, if he is drafted at all.

This is a very intriguing late round pick possibility, and his stock is growing every day. I think he could possibly work himself into a 5th or even 4th round pick with good workouts.
