Thread: QB's with tiny hands.... Jimmi Clausen the smallest

I was looking into the Daute Culpepper rumor and was trying to find out how big his hands were.... and I ran across a fact that should be considered.

Jimmy Clausen has tiny hands... meauring only 9 inches from thumb to pinky. Now I'm 6'1'' and I'm sitting at my desk at work, right now, and measuring and I have a 10.5 inch hand span....

I can also gun a football and palm a basketball, and have hands that are bigger than they should be for my height.

But for an NFL QB, especially in cold weather, this is a big concern. Part of why Brett Favre is successful in cold, bad weather... big hands. When the Ball is wet and you don't have big hands, it tends to flutter.




Texas- Colt McCoy: 6-2 and 210 pounds, 31 Inch arm length, 9 and 3/8 inches hand span

Oklahoma- Sam Bradford: 6-foot-4 1/4, 236 pounds, 34 3/8-inch arm length, 9 1/2-inch hand span

Notre Dame- Jimmy Clausen: 6-foot-2 5/8, 222 pounds, 30 3/4-inch arm length, 9-inch hand span

Flroida- Tim Tebow: 6-foot-2 3/4, 236 pounds, 31 3/4-inch arm length, 10 1/8-inch hand span

Interesting.....What are the size of Favre,Brady and Mannings hands?

Favres are 10 5/8 inches

Isn't that one of Romo's problems,having small hands? I know he has a fumbling and grip problem.

It's not length... It's span. Spread all the fingers out and measure from pinky tip to thumb tip.

Culprppers Hands are 9 1/2 inches... Clausens a full half inch smaller.


It's actually hard to find the measurements for the older QB.

From what I've read Mannings were average (9.5 is the minimum they like to see)
