Much like modern evolution, a drastic change from a non-living to living being would probably occur via a mutation, potentially involving amino acids and the formation of DNA type structures. I'm no biologist though, nor do I care to spend time theorizing about this.

Evolution is bullshit. We are aliens to this planet.
