Thread: Who the hell are we?

Don't forget talkbuffalosports.com is still morphing into something that will set it apart from all other websites.

A little about us, so you know what we strive for:
We are one of many message boards that love Buffalo sports. However, we are a bit unique in that we have great and interesting things to say (you'll find very good discussions in every one one of our forums), we have a sense of humor about us, we love video games and we believe in giving you the opportunity to express yourself freely and as much as possible.

Buffalo Sports
We are big fans of Buffalo Sports.

Video Games
Video games - we dig them...we get as much involved in video games as we do Buffalo Sports. In fact, this was kind of the unique idea we had when all of the members got together to discuss our originality - a message board dedicated to Buffalo Sports and Video games = Heaven.

Language
We don't mind language, just be careful if you are using it to belittle a member. We don't want to limit the ways you can express yourself, and we realize that a certain member or two can bring it out in you - just make sure it's not carried too far on a personal level. If you have any complaints, please bring it up to an admin.

Humor
We love humor. Love it. Take in mind humor can be subjective, not all humor has a pie in the face punch line. Also realize that your sense of humor may not be absolutely appropriate if we don't know you or it hits too close too home for a member (making cancer jokes when a member's mom is dying from it might not bring the knee slap response you were going for), so before attempting, please get a feel for us first. Don't worry, we'll let you know when you are close to that imaginary line. Take note: Some members will never be funny, but will always try. Some members are funny without trying. Some members started off funny, but at some point they stopped being funny and don't realize it yet. So knowing all of this, please and for the most part, take conversations with a grain of salt. If after all of this you find that you still somehow let yourself be offended, contact an admin and it will be brought up for discussion. Please understand, that we probably will not make huge changes - and especially not overnight.

Superfans
We appreciate superfan mentality - and yes we do have a "no holds barred" approach to discussion - but let's not get too carried away. Please realize that for every Superfan, there is its arch-enemy "Common Sense Bringer" who will be there to do battle...sometimes discussions will tend to get one sided.

Smilies
We love smilies...actually we hate some of them, but we realize they are a perfect vehicle for you to give a situation, a player, yourself, or a current event a unique expression - we also realize it gives an identity and a custom feel to TalkBuffaloSports.com. So please go to the smilie request thread and link in the feedback forum and request image or .gif that you would like to see. Please be patient, if you don't see your smilie, just update your request - and if you need it that bad, PM a moderator or an admin. We try to keep the smilie size at 80x60 as well as .gifs.

Moderation
Do not make us over-moderate. If you can believe it, this starts with you. Most message board members don't realize that if they ask mods and admins to get involved. Then "rules" have to be made and then these "rules" have to be enforced...and then it gets down to accountability and who said what and what he meant by it. Police yourself, realize that posts can be interpreted differently and not to go from 0-60 when you think your inner internet superhero has been tested.


In Summary
This site direction is not determined by the admins...but rather, those that visit us here frequently - you guys! A majority of us have met and do hang out in real life - so, TalkBuffaloSports.com is more than just a message board to a lot of us.

To make this site original and unique - to make it yours. Feel free to post and start threads of topics - even thoughts you have that you come across on a daily basis that interest you, annoy you or drive you. Just remember our ToS - anything goes!


Sure we love our Buffalo sports...but there is more out there than that.

We are happy that you guys are here, on average we have most members checking in with us daily - so we know that you like coming here and we appreciate it!
