There is a book out called "The Chris Farley Show". I haven't read it yet but I read an article detailing the book. It seems really interesting and is on my list...
It details the last days of Chris Farley from his friends and family. Some of the contributors are his family, friends, management, cast members, his producers from films, screenwriters who knew him as well as celebrities such as David Spade, Norm MacDonald, Tom Arnold, Tim Meadows, Chevy Chase, Conan O'Brien, Bob Odenkirk, Mancow, Chris Rock...etc.
It seems to give you a really good idea of the real story of Chris Farley and his demons.
Some excerpts:
*His up and down battles with alcohol, drug and even food addiction.
*Constantly in and out of rehab.
*Farley would have make great strides in his sobriety and then absolutely implode - crazy stories like when he was doing an interview with US magazine in L.A. and he had a "sobriety body guard" who he ditched for some hot groupies - Farley got wasted, woke from a black out in Hawaii and realized that at some point he had must have purchased plane tickets for for himself and the girls - he ditched the enraged US Weekly reporter...
*Details a love triangle between Farley, David Spade and Lorri Bagley (the woman from the pool in Tommy Boy)
*Was tired of the fat guy comedy persona and was working towards the lead dramatic in telling the story of Fatty Arbuckle - a man much like Chris Farley himself.
*Movies (like the Fatty Arbuckle story) that were green lighted were stalled because insurance companies would not sign off unless Farley showed improvement in his sobriety.
*Showed up wrecked at an SNL function where the likes of Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Lorne Michaels...etc. were present.
*Farley was the number one choice for Shrek, and he had begun doing the voice recordings - everyone was blown away by how good he was in the role.
*His celebrity status was able to score him drugs in a strict rehab/metal institution..
