fuck you cera don't fuck this upA few days ago, Fancast talked to Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz, who had news on the Arrested Development movie front.
So what of the rumors that new dad Will Arnett and shiny movie star Michael Cera are the only two remaining holdouts?
"I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press," said Hurwitz. "Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!"
Not exactly a subtle hint. In fact, it basically confirms that Michael Cera is not on board for the film, which is sad considering the fact that his character plays such a huge role in the family dynamic. There was further speculation on the subject matter of the film...
"I think in some respect it would have to pick up where the show left off," he said. "Maybe the benefit of that would be, if nothing else, just to recap everything..."
"I’ve also been playing with the idea of doing a prequel for a while, which could be kind of interesting," Hurwitz said.
Now, Will Arnett is telling Entertainment Weekly he is definitely in for the film.
Will Arnett is ready to reunite. "Arrested Development has such a special place in my heart,” he tells EW.com, “and I can't wait to strap that fake hand back on and fight the seal once and for all—wait, which guy did I play?"
You know what? Feeding off these little scraps of speculation isn't as fun as it used to be. Can they just make the movie already so I can stop stressing out about it. Come on!

Ron Howard defended Michael Cera when asked about the "Arrested Development" movie on "Morning Joe" Friday.
Show co-anchor Willie Geist asked of the film, "Is that young punk Michael Cera really holding up this gift to the American people?"
Howard laughed and responded, "No, the punk's not holding it up," then tried to explain what was.
Howard was promoting "Frost/Nixon" on the show, about which he also faced questions from fellow guest Pat Buchanan.
Earlier this week, Cera got cagey with MTV, telling them at Sundance it was "more hypothetical than people think," despite every actor having signed on, in addition to producer/narrator Ron Howard.
Last month in an interview, show creator/executive producer Mitch Hurwitz alluded to Michael Cera holding up the film.
Come on, Mike.
The funny thing is, the people behind the show are so brilliant that they'd probably be able to figure out a way to do the movie without Cera. I could see them hilariously alluding to the fact that George-Micheal isn't around in the same way they parodied the 22-episode season getting cut to 18 and the "Save Our Bluths" episode.
I hope they make it regardless, but it'd obviously be much more preferable to have GMB in it. If not, what's George-Michael -- the singer/songwriter -- up to?
Bring back Deadwood instead, goddamnit.

What a great show that was.
Instead, HBO gives John from Cincinnati? Fucking faggots.
True Blood's pretty good. Plus, some nice ass in that show. But it doesn't compare to Deadwood.

'Arrested Development' movie is on!
Michael Cera will do the highly debated “Arrested Development” movie, according to his on-screen granddad, Jeffrey Tambor.
“If I have to call him up and say, ‘Get on set right now, young man,’ he’ll be there,” the comic said at a recent Upright Citizens Brigade L.A. performance of “Word Girl.” “The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.”

The status of the “Arrested Development” movie has vexed and teased fans of the Emmy-winning Fox show almost since the day it was unjustly canceled. The project’s various rumors — it’s happening! It’s dead! Wait, it’s totally on again! — were more confusing than Tobias Fünke’s sexual preferences. Last month at Sundance, Michael Cera told MTV News that there was no script and he didn’t even know if he’d reprise his role as George Michael Bluth. Then co-star Jeffrey Tambor hit back, claiming Cera was in and the movie would film before the end of the year.
It seemed like every time a cast member opened his mouth, the mystery only deepened. So when we had the chance to speak with executive producer Ron Howard on the red carpet at the Oscars, we asked him to kick us some truth. He did, and now MTV News can exclusively confirm that the “Arrested Development” is happening.
“It’s going ahead,” Howard confirmed.
Last Friday he sat down with series creator Mitch Hurwitz to discus the project. “I had a great meeting with Mitch,” Howard said. “Things are going really well. He’s writing.”
So has Cera signed on? What about the rest of the main cast? And what sort of shenanigans will the Bluth family become embroiled in this time? Give us something, anything!
“We’ve been asked to no longer divulge anything or get into the game of who’s in, who’s out,” Howard told us. “People are going to have to see.”
this is great i don't have to go to redtube tonight

Los Angeles—There will definitely be a movie version of the television series Arrested Development. However, fans of the show, which had a small but loyal audience, have been hearing that since the show went off the air in 2006. Will Arnett, who won an Emmy nomination for the show, says that he is getting a little tired of telling people that it’s on its way.
“I hate to say the same thing that I have been saying for a long time which is ‘it’s happening’ but ‘it’s happening,’” says Arnett, who is at a Los Angeles hotel to promote the animated film Monsters vs. Aliens. (It opens March 27.) “Hopefully we will get to it by the end of this year. (The show’s creator) Mitch Hurwitz is actively working on a script and it depends on Mitch’s comfort level with the script he writes. But the goal is to get going on it by the end of the year and we are all very excited about it.”
Arnett’s reluctance to talk about firm dates is directly related to the fact he has yet to see a written word. “I have not read it yet. There is not an actual completed document and I don’t know if there is a started document. There may be an empty Word document on Mitch’s desktop but he is actively developing it right now and I am optimistic.”
He admits, though, that if Hurwitz doesn’t start filling up his Word documents with a script pretty soon the film, which was supposed to start shooting in July just a few months ago, could run into another obstacle. Since Arrested Development went off the air several cast members have used its notoriety to get work.
Busy alumni include Michael Cera, who is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young actors, Jason Bateman who co-starred with Cera in last year’s indie hit Juno and Arnett himself, who is currently shooting the series Sit Down, Shut Up. “Getting the cast back is going to be one of the potential stumbling blocks,” he says, “but it is something that everyone has on their radar. Admittedly it is one of the reasons why it is not starting in July. Everyone has to get on the same page schedule-wise.”

Days after Will Arnett publicly begged his Arrested Development writer/director Mitch Hurwitz for mercy, we got Hurwitz to respond exclusively. It looks like Arnett can expect things to get worse for Gob in the "Arrested Development" movie.
"We're probably going to find new and exotic ways of humiliating Will Arnett, and coincidentally Gob, but mostly Will Arnett," Hurwitz said at the premiere of his new show, "Sit Down, Shut Up." "Maybe we'll paint him blue for a change. I don't know, we'll pick him up somewhere. We'll pick him up in some horribly sad state and then go through a journey with him where he gets to a slightly sadder state."
Perhaps the movie will finally reveal Gob's living arrangements, which were a mystery on the show. "For a long time, we didn't know where Gob lived. In our minds, we always had this idea that he was living at Merv Griffin's house, just for free. The only obligation was that he use the pool. Then Merv died and that felt like it was in bad taste. I think there's still one scene, we may have cut it, where he's wearing a robe that has an MG on it. It's going to be our little clue."
Hurwitz has not begun writing the script yet. Since it's pilot season, he's developing some more potential new shows. "It has been a little busy this couple months as we're all trying to climb back from the strike and everything. The plan is like in May to really hit that hard."
This is getting to the "I'll believe it when I see it" stage with me. By the time this movie comes out, it'll be four or five years since the show's finale. I'm not optimistic. Hopeful, yes.
