So I went yesterday, (Sunday the 12th) and thought I'd share some of my favorite dishes that I got to try.
A quick side note, the weather was BEAUTIFUL, and it was super packed. I started to get annoyed at first, but people seemed to spread out, or leave after a while.
I'm going to ranked them in no particular order, just as I remember them all.
1. Bravo- From here I had the Balsamic Chicken Salad. It was FANTASTIC. Full of flavor, fresh green lettuce, goat cheese, some fresh fruit and delicious marinated pieces of chicken. Really great dish. My girlfriend got the Chicken Diavolo and that was also fantastic. It was like a chicken pasta with a spicy and cheesy kick. Really tasty.
2. Chester's Cajun Grill- This place was voted best overall stand so I had to try it. I got the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. Very good. Not usually a gumbo guy, but the flavor was perfect, and the portions of meat and veggies were nice. Good dish. My buddy got both the Blackened Shrimp over Cajun Rice and the Cajun Boiled Crawfish. I didn't have either, but he said it was great, especially the shrimp, which from a glance looked mouthwatering.
3. Danny's South - Since I tried making this dish myself once, I had to finally try the grand daddy of it, the Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup. It was superb. I think mine was close though because I had more cheese in mine (just a person preference) and bigger chunks of chicken. Still very flavorful and you could really taste the Frank's hot sauce. Well done by them.
4. Eddie Ryan's - This won some awards and I was very intrigued by one of the dishes there, called Beer-Cheese Soup. This might have been my favorite of the bunch so far. Just the perfect blend of flavors. It was amazing. My only complaint was the portion I got, which was smaller than most any.
5. Giacobbi's Pasta and Pizza - Another award winner from yesterday, so a stop here was a must. I had the Buffalo Wing Hamburger. It of course was great. It was basically a hamburger with cheese, blue cheese and a touch of hot sauce with some other secret ingredients I couldn't quite depict. My burger was a little too well done, but I'm guessing due to the volume of people, that if I went to their actual restaurant it would be perfect.
6. May Jen Chinese Restaurant - This was an odd choice for me for this type of festival, but the stand was right by where I went in and the Ginger Garlic Chicken that was being dished out as I walked by looked too good to pass up. Real solid for a Chinese place. Great flavor and spices and very fresh. If I ever order from there I would definitely get that.
Well those were the things I tried yrsterday, if you ever go to one of those places, I'd strongly recommend any of them. Did anyone else go this past weekend? Any likes or dislikes of what you had? Please share if you did.
